Category Homepage on Structure

Ok, so now I’m bothered by the Category on the left sidebar on the Homepage of the theme STRUCTURE. Is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks.

What you are seeing in the sidebar right now is a sample display of widgets that the theme creates.
Go to appearance > widgets and add the widgets that you want to be in the sidebar and then arrange them by drag and drop. The sample set will disappear once you physically add a widget.

Help! I have a private blog and want to show two categories (Yoga and Bodysculpting). No matter what I do, only Yoga shows. When I go into the dashboard, two Categories show. “Sculpt” shows with an unchecked box in front of it. I check it, press apply and wait. But when I go back to my blog main page only “yoga” shows.
I thought, OK, I need to post something under sculpt. So I wrote a post and characterized it as “sculpt”. It shows in the center of the page (along with the Yoga posts), but the left sidebar “Categories” still shows only “yoga”!
This Yogi hasn’t been able to meditate all day without grinding teeth. Someone, please tell me what I’m a doin’ wrong! Thanks!

Do you have any posts assigned to “sculpt”? Categories will not show in the categories widget until they have been assigned to at least one published post (otherwise they would return 404 file not found errors because there would be nothing to show under that category).

I did have one post. After reading what you wrote I added a second post and now they show up as drop downs. YAY! But I really would like them to show as a list so that all anyone has to do is click on either “sculpt” or “yoga”. How do I do that?

It’s hard to help when your blog is set to private. Could you open it up temporarily or invite us in to take a look?

sure – I’ll open it up. While you’re there, is there anyway to have the “about” page on the main page? And instead of having the number of posts under sculpt or yoga can it have the title of each post? This is my first try – I have it on private because I don’t want anyone to look at it until I figure it all out! Thanks!

Using structure right now and am having two problems.
I like to use wide pictures but they keep getting cut off and the homepage widget on the upper right won’t go away. I like to use wide pictures and a title before I start with a post. Can I at least make the homepage widget transparent if I can’t take it away?

If this is the blog you are talking about, http://desiderus.wordpress.com/ , then you need CSS editing experience and you need to buy the CSS upgrade.
Or you need to change to a theme where you can disable the sidebar.
Also, there ARE no images on the main page of your blog. If you are talking about in the grey area at the top of your blog, the featured images area, then you need to take a look at these two posts by Panos.

Is there any way to set it up so that instead of showing the number of posts in each category it shows the title?
And can I make someone have to sign in to read a categories blogs or do I need to have two blogs?
