Category ID import

  Hi there

  I learned about the functionality to tag and categorise in making an email post. I see that the category ID can be found under edit in Admin mode, but was wondering if I could import the list of category IDs as I need to know 20 plus category IDs for the items under Tax cases parent category in my blog.

  Please let me know if you can help with this. Thank you!

  Hi Kay! I was just reading your other thread about Post By Email, and noticed this one was closed accidentally: you’re looking for a list of category IDs, correct?

  This is a bit technical, but I’m confident from reading your other post that you can handle it.

  Export all from https://wordpress.com/export/

  You’ll get an XML file with a lot of data in it, but we’re interested in categories.

  If you open that in a text editor and search for <wp:category> you can see the data for each category, including its wp:term_id, and the name of the category in <wp:category_nicename>

  I don’t know of parser that will automatically make a neat list of category names and IDs from that, but if there aren’t too many, you can just copy them into a format you like.
