Category links of post
-
When I create a post I select which categories I want it to refer to. But in the actual post itself, that shows which categories I chose, clicking these categories doesn’t take the viewer to all of MY posts in that category, but instead to WordPress list of related categories. How can I fix this so that only the post on my blog are shown?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can’t help you without a link to your blog, starting with http. Also, have you done a search of the forum and Support documents for “Categories” and related terms? It’s a common question.
-
If your blog is a wordpress.com blog then there are only three ways of keeping your posts from appearing on the wordpress.com global tagging pages, which deliver a significant amount to traffic to our blogs. If you do not assign categories or tags, or if your blog is labeled as “mature” (adult contents – NSFW), or if you choose to change the visibilit of the blog to “private”.
-
Having your blog set to Mature doesn’t make those links localized; it simply means your posts don’t appear on the Global Tag Pages, although the categories on your blog DO continue to link there.
-
-
Umm. Besides setting your blog to “private” your tags can reflect only a list of your own categories and tags if you set it to
“I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors” -
So, really the only way to fix it makes it so my blog doesn’t appear to others, then? Thanks for the help! The URL is http://feerlessfood.wordpress.com/
-
Actually under the privacy settings you can chose this option [“I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”] that way your blog stays visible to your readers and your categories will now point back to articles listed under the category clicked.

Another way to “fix” it is switching to the iNove theme, which has an option to hide categories and/or tags from the post metadata.
But it’s not something that must be fixed, really, because it’s good for you – see here:

Choosing the so-called middle option (public blog, but blocking search engines) is actually another choice/option. If the OP does not know about it, how can he/she decide if it is right for his pursposes?
Yes, it it very similar to having a private blog, but in fact it is not the same.
And yes, it it not a choice that is well recommended for everyone, or even for very many. But it is a valid choice for some (I use it for one of my blogs!!).

@Tess
lol … I gave viewed the blog. Look at the top right hand corner. This blogger is a foodbuzz affiliate ie. a featured publisher. There’s no way he’s going to choose the middle option. Read here and see what I mean:

Yes, you and I know that. But the OP may not. Or he may know it and not like the option.
Any way, other people read these threads: we even encourage folk to search the forums and read them to find answers. So an option may not interest the questioner, but I don’t think we should exclude possibilities.
You know how it is with commenters on a blog: lots of people read, but few comment. Same here in the forums, right?
(and switching to iNove was not something that occurred to me…)

Thanks for all the help everyone, I really appreciate it. After you suggestions I think you’re right that it is best to just leave it the way it is!
