Category List on Pages
-
Hello Support,
I hope you are well.
I have created a number of pages which show a category list as part of it. I want the category list to only show certain categories related to what the page is about.
I am on the free version, is there any way to do this?
Cheers,
LS9

Hi! The Categories block doesn’t work like that as such; there isn’t a way to limit which categories are listed; but if you’re wanting to get a series of unique category lists, it might be worth your time to create individual menus that list different sets of categories, and show the relevant menu as either a sidebar widget, or an inserted Navigation block at the top of each page.
We have some general information about creating menus here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/create-a-menu/There is a navigation menu widget:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/navigation-menu-widget/This is the guide for the Navigation block:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-editing/theme-blocks/navigation-block/If you want to use either of these methods and insert them into your sidebar, then you’ll need add all of the menus to the sidebar as a whole, and use the “widget visibility” settings to ensure each unique widget only appears on the desired page:
https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/#widget-visibilityOf course, you could also choose to insert each menu on its relevant page in the actual content area, by means of the Navigation block – it’s worth checking over the guide for the Navigation block in case this can be useful to you. Let us know if you have any other questions!
