Category not showing up

    My blog has one category, and it’s set to be the default one.
    Sometimes it shows up with my posts, and sometimes it doesn’t.
    For the life of me, I’m hornswoggled.
    Any ideas what might be the problem?
    I was having no problem with categories before recently deleting the pre-existing ones and adding this new one.

    Hi stubblejumperscafe,

    I see you have one category called “For Blondi’s notes, today’s tarot draw, and more, click the orange bar” which includes 454 posts. The total amount of posts on your site is almost double and the remaining amount are in a draft, marked as private or not assigned to any category — it’s likely they were before the pre-existing categories were deleted.

    Can you send a link to one of the posts where you are expecting to see this category?

    Hi!
    Yes, that’s my intent.
    If you can see it, why can’t I? I wonder.
    I signed out to see if that made a difference, and it didn’t. I still don’t see the category on that or any of the other recent posts that should show it.
    Some days I really hate computers!
    Anyway if you can see it, that’s what counts.
    If you can tell me why you see it and I don’t, that would be even better.

    Could it be that you’re seeing it somewhere other than where I expect it to be? Which would be on the left side of the text, where the Leave Comment /Edit is.

    I’ll bet that’s it. Where are you expecting it?

    I can see it on the front page, and I can see it on the category link (the one I listed above).

    Before, and where I expect it to be now, is right on the front page under today’s date, and under “By Stubblejumpers Cafe.” These are to the left of the post title. My Edit button is there, and usually there’s a Comments button there too, but today it’s not there.

    Hi there, I see the categories to the left of the post when I view the demo page, but I’m not seeing it on your site. This theme is retired, so I’m not sure if the theme developers will fix this issue or not. I’m checking with them now.

    Fiore theme is quite old, and as I said, it is retired, so the theme developers are not going to make any bug fixes. That said, with Fiore, it looks like if only one category is assigned to a post, the category will not show in the metadata for a post. Can you try an experiment and create and add another category to one of your posts and see if it shows up. And let us know which post you add that to?

    Looks like the problem is solved! As soon as I (after making a few text changes) added a second category, they both showed up right where I intended.

    FRIDAY: Acting Classy

    I then didn’t check the box for the second category (“and more”) because it was appearing above the other one (“Click on the bar for” … etc.)

    I know there’s a way to order them, but … I’ll find that way later. Maybe.

    Right now, just glad to have that first category show up and point readers to the sidebar.

    But TODAY when I posted a new entry, NO CATEGORY is showing and it is no longer on yesterday’s post either!

    Today: https://stubblejumperscafe.wordpress.com/2018/07/07/saturday-if-fans-could-talk/

    — When I look at the Status options, and open the Categories to the drop-down list, there is an empty box on the left of the second category (and more) I created yesterday, but to the left of the category I want (Click on the bar for Blondi’s notes, tomorrow’s tarot) there is no box.

    What next.

    This isn’t anything pressing, just a tool that would be handy if it was working as it did recently.

    @stubblejumperscafe I can see the new post in the same category the other was in.

    Is there any chance your internet connection is using “caching” to speed up the websites you visit? The fact that we can see the posts well before you do makes me wonder if you aren’t seeing a current version of your website.

    You might check in with your provider to confirm.
