Category Organization Question

    Noobie looking for some help.

    I am working on a site that needs to have a BUNCH of different categories. In fact, the site will be adding a new Category each week. My first question is whether or not there are limitations with using that many categories with WP? I will essentially be adding one parent category every month or so and each parent category will have 4-8 sub categories (one added per week). Is this a bad idea?

    Supposing the above IS a good idea, I would like for each parent category to have an image that will be displayed when looking at a list of parent categories. I would also like to associate an audio or video file with each of the sub categories. Any plug-ins that will facilitate this kind of category organization?
