I have a category in my side menu to display posts in that category. However it show them as links to the title. Is there a way to show the full posts like the main page does?

You will have to change themes. Some themes show full posts, some show excerpts, and some show titles. I think there’s a list of which does what at

I’m afraid not, this is hardcoded into the Digg3 theme. The site looks much better with the double sidebar design, your main content takes centre stage which is better visually and for search engine traffic. Check out Panos’ link above to see if any of the listed themes which do allow full posts in archive pages might work for you.

Yes, in some themes this is possible by using the excerpt function.
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/the-excerpt-function/One caveat: If you have YouTubes (or other videos), they will not play. Also, I’m not certain about how other shortcodes work in excerpts. Back when I used Digg3, videos used to play, but that has changed in the last year or so.

(by the way, the excerpt function works in Digg3 for category and archive pages only. There are a very few themes which will display custom summaries on the main page as well, but from your question, that is not what you are looking for anyway.)
