Category page with just titles?
-
My theme is Twenty Twelve (with Customized CSS.) Question: Is there a way in CSS for a category page to contain just the titles of the posts but not the posts themselves? (A title could be a link to the actual post), (Maybe this is not a job for CSS!)
(The question is really theoretical because my site doesn’t really have posts with categories – I’m grappling with the consequences of having already put my articles all in pages rather than posts (for boring reasons) and suffering the consequences of not having categories and tags. Debating whether to convert all those pages to posts. ARrrgghhh.)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes it is possible, I’ve done it on another theme…! (With CSS)
However, you’ll need to give me a category with a couple of articles to work with ;)

In the majority of themes, posts on the dynamic category, tags or monthly archive pages show up just as they do in the main posts page. But in some themes only the beginnings of posts are shown, and in a few themes you only get only post titles or thumbnails.

Thank you francisbob – I just now added a menu item “photos” (not “photo stories”) which is, as I understand it a category page. It shows 3 articles (which are posts) in their entirety – their category is “photos”. Would love to know if I can just show the post titles (which would be links to the posts … like a table of contents.)
Dear Timethief, how can I search for such a theme. I would love to try it out – but am stuck on how to find such an animal.

Hey there !
So here’s a CSS solution for Twenty Twelve, it will show the last 10 articles from each category (Unless you changed the parameter at Settings -> Reading -> ‘Blog page shows at most:’
.archive .entry-header img{ visibility:hidden; height:0; width:0; margin:0; padding:0; } .archive .entry-header .comments-link{ visibility:hidden; height:0; margin:0; padding-bottom:0; } .archive .entry-header{ margin:0; } .archive .entry-content{ visibility:hidden; height: 0; margin-bottom:0; padding-bottom:0; } .archive .entry-meta{ visibility: hidden; height:0; margin:0; padding-bottom:0; } .archive .post{ margin-bottom:0; border-bottom:0; padding-bottom:0; } .archive .post:last-of-type{ margin-bottom:40px; } .archive .entry-title{ width:250px; } .archive .post:not(.has-post-thumbnail){ margin-top:15px; } .archive .archive-title{ font-size:0; } .archive .archive-title span{ font-size:30px; } .archive .archive-header{ margin:0; } .archive #primary{ margin-top:0; } .archive .archive-meta{ font-size:15px; }Have fun !

Thank you so much francisbob. As usual, you are so so helpful. In this case, it’s not
- exactly
what I need (hmmmn, come to think of it, I may not be clear on my own “exactly”!!), but I will have fun experimenting AND learning a lot in the process.
