Category Selection Layout

I run a cinematography blog at http://www.filmgrab.wordpress.com I am using the Categories as a mean to link films that share Directors or DoP’s.
On my older theme when you selected to view one of the categories you got a list of posts in that category. I changed themes to a nicer layout but now when you select a category you see the whole of each post. My site is image intesive and I would prefer that categories just lead to a page listing the posts within that category.
Is this possible within my current theme?

I’m really sorry to say that it isn’t; the theme designers have individually made decisions about the layout for the category pages, so you’d need to choose a theme with the kind of layout that suits you.

You can still use the more tag, this will cut the content on your main blog and categories page. This could be a really good idea, especially as you are loading so many images at once. Maybe include one line of images before the more tag so if people want to see all the extras they can click through to that specific post. This will cut page load times and make your site easier for readers to navigate quickly.

Thanks for all the help with that! Im caught a bit here, I definitely want my home page to display 2 full posts but the categories should be tagged with a more button.
Ill have to explore other theme options, I really hope there one out there that satisfies all my needs…and that looks good too!
