Category Slugs
-
Hi,, there, I’m new to WordPress ;-) I need some advice on something. I can post fine and add to the categories I’ve created, but then when my posts appear in the blog the ‘Posted in’ links don’t work right. Instead of linking to the category I’ve created, they link to a generic page on the WordPress site. The link works fine in the categories section in the bottom panel, but not in the link after the post itself. Instead of:-
http://matthewsedition.wordpress.com/category/news/
I get:-
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/news/
Is there a setting I need to turn.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s the way they work at WordPress.com. There are serious SEO benefits to that, but if you don’t like it, you have some options:
– Use the iNove theme and change the settings so it only links locally.
OR
– Set your blog’s Privacy to be “Invisible to search engines but visible to regular readers. -
Many thanks for your help and the latter worked fine straight away – I take the point about SEO though and I’ll have to giver this some thought. Is the general protocol to have an email address for contact on the blog (which will be fairly personal) or is this just a spam magnet? M

The following article discusses the topic of offering your visitors the possibility of contacting you while avoiding spam. You can either use a contact form or display your email address less conspicuously:
