Category Sticky Post
-
I’d like a plugin to allow me to make categorically sticky posts. I found one here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/category-sticky-post/installation/
that seems like it would do the job quite nicely. If that plugin could be made available, I would appreciate it tremendously.
Thanks,
Grant

I can provide a workaround. Only some themes actually display category descriptions. We can use category descriptions on themes that do display them to achieve what you want.
On some themes like the one I use, Expound we can enter a category description that will display at the top of dynamic category pages. We enter that here > Dashboard > Posts > Categories in the description field and here’s an example of the result http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/category/better-blogging/ -

Hopefully your theme will display category descriptions and that will resolve your issue. Best wishes with this.

I have looked at your site several times, and I really like one aspect that I can’t figure out how to replicate. Here’s the issue:
When I go to your homepage, I have the option to click several buttons in the header menu. So, I click “Basic Blogging.”
That takes me to a new…..post? Page? I don’t know what to call it exactly, but it takes me to a 2nd webpage that has links to tons of separate articles.
I LOVE that 2nd webpage. I am trying to set up something like that on my blog complete with links to articles/posts/webpages that are unaccessible otherwise.
But, I don’t know how to set up that kind of page with links, and I don’t know how to create new posts without them ALL showing up on my MAIN mage. I don’t mind MOST of my posts showing up on my homepage, but I want some to only be available via a 2nd webpage like your “Basic Blogging” webpage.
So, how do I accomplish all that? Any tips would be supremely appreciated. :)

Pages and posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ are not the same but please read on.
Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags to will update automatically update with new posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.
