Category/Tag bug in XML export file
-
Hello-
I’ve found what seems a bug in the XML export file. I have 49 posts on my blog under the Category “Baseball”. It so happens I also have a “Baseball” Tag.
In the XML export file, the “Baseball” Category only appears if there is no “Baseball” Tag. It seems the Tag overrides the Category.

Baseball

Baseball
So the export shows only two posts in the “Baseball” Category, because most of them also have the “Baseball” Tag.
FWIW, I make extensive use of the XML export file to generate stats and indexes, so the Category/Tag thing is kind of important to me.
Is this considered a bug or just how WP works? I’ve noticed apparent confusion between Tags and Categories before in that editing the case of one seems to affect the case of the other.
For example, I can’t seem to have a “Baseball” Category and a “baseball” Tag. Which I would very much like. To me, Categories should be capitalized, but Tags generally not unless they are proper names.
So what are your thoughts? I’d really have to hate to go through over 700 posts to eliminate Category/Tag duplication.
regards,

I do appreciate how you’ve fixed minor bugs in how the XML export handles Unicode. In the past I’ve had to do manual fixups, which isn’t fun with a 25 meg XML file. This time, no errors of that kind, so yay!
