  How do I remove that from my post or page. I am new to this and hit something which put Category: uncategorized to the left of the post title. It looks ridiculous

  Hi there,
  The Uncategorized category is set by default when you don’t have other categories. I suggest you either assign/create other categories of your own or change the name of the default category “uncategorized”.
  To change the name, go to WP Admin > Posts > Categories. Hover over the name “uncategorized” and click Edit. You’ll be able to assign another name. Don’t forget to click Update to save your changes.
  To create categories, whenever you’re publishing a post, you’ll see a section that says “categories and Tags” on the left side of your post editor. Click Add a New Category to add the ones you want.
  Categories are very useful to have your posts displayed on the WP reader and have people read your posts. Also, they also help you organize your content under menus or with the use of shortcodes. I recommend you read the following links:
