Category Widget not working properly

  Hi there, I am trying to update my categories dropdown in my sidebar but it only shows the categories from my first 2 posts. I want it to work so categories automatically add to that list once a new post comes up, but currently cannot even get the new categories of my 3rd post to appear in the dropdown menu on the siderbar. Thanks
