Category/Pages

  I want to archive my posts on the menu with the pages on the top of my blog as tabs. However, I figured out how to add the categories to the top, but not how to describe each category as I was able to with the pages. I wanted to provide a picture and description of each category, then have my posts archived under this specific category shown after the picture and description of the category. Right now, all it’s showing is the archived post and no room to edit to add a description at the top of all posts that will be featured under this tab. How do I format my categories and/or pages so that I can have a description of the category always at the top, followed by the posts in those categories below it?
