Center site title in Highwind Theme

New to WordPress, and I can’t quite figure out how to customize the CSS so that I can center the home page’s site title in the Highwind theme. Any help would be appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Look for .site-title in the CSS file (likely styles.css) and change it to be text-align:center;
If you want the description below it to be centered as well, set .site-description include text-align:center;

What if I wanted to change it from the CSS section of the “Customize” page? It has a blank box with which you are supposed to be able to affect the CSS file.
I’m sorry, I really am new to this, so please pardon if this is a stupid question: If I want to be able to download and change the CSS file, don’t I have to be hosting the domain myself? Or did I misunderstand what I read? I don’t currently host it, so I thought my only option is the aforementioned “Customize” page.
