I checked http://allinastitch.wordpress.com/ and I see that you are currently using the Stay theme on that blog. To center the header image on the Stay theme, first you have to expand the header container area to 100% width and then center align the contents. Add this to your Appearance > Customize > CSS editor to try it out:
#masthead hgroup { width: 100%; text-align: center; }I made a screencast using the Firefox web inspector to show you how I figured out what selectors to use: https://cloudup.com/c9xbusExVTR

@travelingcindy, yes, you would need the Custom Design upgrade which you can purchase at Store > Store in your dashboard.
Custom Design upgrade is available to those that created their username account prior to September of 2014. For new users that create accounts after September, 2014, they would have to purchase the WordPress.com Premium or WordPress.com Business plans. Custom CSS is now a part of those plans.
