Centering in 'preformatted'

  I’m now adding poetry to my blog. I just realized that all the formatted indentation hasn’t been kept, and learned about ‘preformatted’ mode. Some poems are simply centered – without adding and counting spaces, how can i center in ‘pre’ mode, so that all poems can be in ‘pre’. If I can’t, how can i get rid of the special font and box that is automatically generated in pre – so that all poems will have a consistent look?
