Centering the content in the front page now I've removed sidebar widgets.

I seem to have two columns – one headed POSTS with nothing in it and another floating to the right with all the content,
Single posts look fine.
Help appreciated,
Cheers, Walter

Hi there,
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website.
I saw you post at the WordPress.org forums. Since your website was built with the open source version of the WordPress software, WordPress.org, that forum is the best place for you to receive help.
All that said, when I tried playing around with your question, first I was able to replicate the issue. If I clicked Appearance > Customize, in the Customizer I didn’t have an option to change this layout. But when I clicked the AMP option in the dashboard, a Theme Options menu showed up in the Customizer, and I could turn off the two column option there.

Try it, maybe it works for you too.

Thanks csabarakasz!
I do have the question up on wordpress.org but had no luck getting a reply. I do have a site on WordPress.com but the the one in question. I have Jetpack/
I followed up and no AMP option appeared. However I installed the AMP plugin, and set it all up. Still no change.
Note that on the phone the site looks fine. not on the iPad or Mac.
I installed a plugin called Theme Options – there I could change it from 1 to 2 columns. But it was already set to 1.
If fiddled a bit with the Custom CSS but I’m just lost there.
Suggestions appreciated.
Cheers, Walter

Hello Walter,
Do you have a link to that forum post? Also is this an additional site with a different hosting provider?
AMP can very on the theme in use on a site and also if there’s any CDNs active.
When AMP is installed, what are the settings currently in place?
Many thanks.

My post at WordPress.org:
Yes different hosting
I uninstalled the AMP as it interfered with search visibility on the iPhone

Hi there,
You can add this CSS:
.wrap{ max-width: 3000px; margin: 0 auto; padding: 0em; padding-right: 40em; } #primary{ max-width: 3000px; margin: 0 auto; }You can play around with the
max-widthto change the size of the post content.Let me know if that works for you.

Also, when I checked your page, I still see the widgets in the right column. Makes sure to delete those if you want to make a single column with the CSS provided.
Thanks,

darnelldibbles,
Thanks!!
Sadly no. It moved the header and the content (still in what seems like two columns) over to the left. The bottom footer is also way to the left, aligned with the word POSTS it seems. Fiddling with the numbers did not help.
I’ve removed the widgets again, they reappeared after I tried another theme.
So question: Is that word POSTS in another column? I found somthing with ‘Column-count’. the settings could not get rid of the POSTS column.
Cheers, Walter

Hi there,
It’s best to wait for a reply on the thread you have started over at WordPress.org. If no ones replies to that theme forum, then you can post in the general WordPress.org support forum (https://wordpress.org/support/forums/).
