Centering & Widening Main Column

  Hi! I’m trying to center and widen the (main and only) column on all of my pages via CSS, because right now the column is toward the left and way too narrow for my liking.

  (Examples: http://carmenmariamachado.com/fiction/
  http://carmenmariamachado.com/prizes-awards/)

  I’ve been fiddling around with suggestions from this forum, like:

  col {
  width: 75%;
  }

  .site-content {
  width: 1040px;
  }

  But nothing has worked. Can you help? Thank you!
