centre column of layout background
-
Hello everyone, I’m new to this blogging site, having left Myspace after 5 years
ok, my question i this.
I have posted a verticle picture on the left hand side of my background & coloured the rest of the background to compliment the picture BUT how do I get the central column, which is currently white, to match the back ground colour?
I bet I’m being dumb, but I can’t fathom this one out guys…lol.
Any help would be much appreciated…looking forward to creating a fun blog on here :D
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are using the Twenty Ten theme. This theme provides a background only on the edges and is displaying correctly in your blog. The only way to change the background color behind pages and posts is to purchase a CSS upgrade and do the work yourself.
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

If you do not have CSS editing experience then another choice is to select a theme that displays a background background color behind pages and posts. Or your could use the HTML editor to code in a background color in every page and post you create.

thanks ‘timethief’ for the info’…yes I’m fully experienced with CSS & HTML, but as a newbie on here, I don’t want to pay out for additional packages at this stage.

Okay. Then the best option for you may be to select another theme. The live demo site is here > http://theme.wordpress.com/
Best wishes with your blog. :)
