    Hi @stockandsales,

So do you need to do this because you’ve previously bought a domain at WordPress.com, and now you want to use this domain for your WordPress.org site?

In that case, please check out these support articles:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/

Also, if you’re not already familiar with it, here is a very helpful guide for moving your site from WordPress.com to WordPress.org.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

If you for whatever reason really need to change your A record on your WordPress.com site, you can do this if you’ve bought a custom domain name through WordPress.com.

Here are the steps to change it:
    – click My Sites in the upper left corner whilst logged in to WordPress.com
    – if you have many sites, make sure to choose the site you want to edit
    – click Domains in the main menu, then click on your custom domain
    – click Name Servers & DNS
    – finally click on DNS Records

This is where you would add a new A name record (under Type choose A).

    Hi there,

Which domain do you need to change the A records for? It sounds like you want to point the domain to a self hosted WordPress.org site. Is that correct?

Once I know more I’ll be happy to help.

I wanted to transfer my domain over to bluehost and use my wordpress.org to get access to google adsense, but if i need to wait 60 days ill just get a refund and go back to wordpress.com

    Hi there,

You don’t currently have any active domains on your account. I can see you recently cancelled and refunded money-sharks.com — is that the domain you wish to transfer?

but if i need to wait 60 days ill just get a refund and go back to wordpress.com

Yes, the domain was only registered a couple of days ago so you would need to wait 60 days to transfer it away.

There are a couple of options now:

    1. I can send a payment request for the domain costs ($18) and try to restore it to your account. The domain can be pointed to your new WordPress.org site until the 60 day lock has passed.

    2. Wait for the domain to be released and then register is elsewhere. Because you cancelled it so soon after purchase, this should be around a week.

Let me know what you would like to do.

So would i have to wait a week so i can use the domain on wordpress.com again?

Since you’ve already cancelled the domain at WordPress.com, you’ll have to wait around a week to have the domain released for purchase again, and don’t need to do anything at this point. Whenever domains get cancelled there is usually some waiting time before anybody can get it back, and @gemmacevans estimated the waiting time for your case to be around a week.

If you want to continue having the domain registered at WordPress.com and then point it to your WordPress.org site (which is quite easy and wouldn’t take to long to be activated), you have to accept @gemmacevans offer of trying to restore the domain (which costs 18 USD). She didn’t specify how long this would take though, but my guess is that if you can restore it, it will take less than a week before you can start using the domain again on WordPress.com.

    Hi there,

It looks like another member of has staff helped you out and restored the domain.
