change account email

I have an account and I would like to change the email that is registered to it. I go to account settings and then type in the box that says ‘Email’ the correct email address, and then press ‘Save Settings’, and a red bar appears on the screen that says ‘there was a problem saving your settings’. Can you please help me?

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me/account
Scroll down to Email Address and be sure to click the Save Account Settings link after you change it.

Have you more than one username account?
Have you used that email address to register another username account with?That’s what Staff will need to work with when they get to this thread.

Neither. I only have one wordpress account with one blog attached to it. It’s all under one email and password…

This could be a case of changing your username. Maybe you have done that in the past. Sorry I can’t help but Staff will be able to. Please be patient while waiting.

Hi @mrgoodlife1, do you happen to already have an account under the other address? You can test by logging out, then trying to reset the password for that address:
http://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordSometimes when we see this error, it’s simply because the email address you’re trying to use is already in our system.

I’m on the staff. Usually when we see this, it’s because you’re trying to use an email address that is already in our system.
If you’d like to tell us the email address, I’ll check it for you. The forum software will hide the address so only staff can see it.
