Change account email to email address associated with another account

  I have two WordPress accounts, A and B. I’d like the email associated with B to be changed to the email linked with A. But when I tried to do that while logged into B, it says (and I paraphrase) ‘that email is being used by another account.’

  The problem is the email linked with account B is no longer an email that works. I can’t even access it. The email company doesn’t exist anymore. So I guess another way of saying it is: I’d like to consolidate my WordPress websites under one email address (the one linked to Acct A). Thanks.

  Hi there,

  You’ll need to change account A’s email to something else first. That will free up account A’s email so you can use it with account B.

  If you’re using Gmail, that service comes with a built in alias feature, so if account A’s email is exampleA[at]gmail.com, change it to exampleA+usernameA[at]gmail.com. Emails to this alias address will still come into your Gmail inbox, but our system sees it as a different address. So once you confirm the change, exampleA[at]gmail.com will no longer be connected to the account.
