  Hello,

  I used to have 2 accounts on WordPress.com, the one I’m writing from right now, and one associated with the email (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  Can you please purge the email (email visible only to moderators and staff) and all relevant data from your system, so I can update this account to use that email properly?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi,

  The solution is in the following paragraph from the Issues Changing your Email Address section of the Update Email Address support page:

  To solve the issue, you can use a different email address that is not already in use, or you can log in to the account currently using your desired email address and change it to something else. Once changed, you can then reuse the email on a different account.

  I can’t login to the old account as it has been deleted, which is why I want wordpress to remove all info from their system for that account, so I can actually perform the update.

  A site may be deleted. An account may be closed, as described in the Close My Account support page. The fact that you can’t use that email address suggests that the account isn’t closed, or if it was then the action was taken quite recently because the Account Restoration section of the support page indicates that the email address associated with a closed account may not be reused for the first 30 days after closure.

  I’ve called for staff attention. Staff may be able to explain the situation more clearly, cover your options, and better assist you in reaching resolution.

  Hi –

  We can get this sorted out. I see the desired account has been deleted. In order to have it restored, we need you to respond to the account deletion notification email that we sent. Write back to us in that email and let us know that you need the account restored. Once that is done you can remove that email address on the account which will free it up for use on a different one.

  Can’t you just purge that closed account under GDPR?

  Hi arnedeherdt,

  The account will be purged 30 days after the closure date (see the second paragraph):

  Close Your Account

  However if the email address is needed for use on another account before then, we’ll need you to reply to the account closure email staff-zinnia mentioned.
