change autosave interval

autosave interval is three seconds. Need it to be more like 5 minutes. Very little can be typed in three seconds, after which I must wait approximately 20 seconds for autosave. Then I can type three more seconds, then wait 20 seconds, and so forth. Impossible to use WordPress under these conditions. Can you help with this?

Every 3 seconds sounds very odd to me. I have never experienced that frequency.
In order to help you Staff need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through the list that follows and report your details back here.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily. Know also that security and firewall programs and programs that run incognito mode may need to be temporarily disabled as well.

Oh, I’m so glad it’s not just me! I seem to spend about three quarters of my blogging time waiting for the autosave to complete, and the rest actually typing. I completely endorse mezzojan’s statement. Five minutes is more than adequate when I’m using the word processor – and WordPress seems to back up every five seconds!
FTR I’m using Firefox (latest release) in Ubuntu 14.04.3, with all the relevant plugins brand new and spiffy. I can’t see this as a browser issue, but it really needs to be addressed ASAP, as I could grow old and die before completing my next entry. :-(
