Change blog address

    I was trying to change my blog address and WP was saying that the site was not available when in fact it was. I tested this by opening a different browser where i was not signed signed in to wp and creating a new site with that address. I would like to transfer the content on my current blog to that address, or delete the new site and attempt to re-register the address

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I was able to register a new blog for the desired one but now i dont know how to get my content over to it.

    Hi there,

    I was able to register a new blog for the desired one but now i dont know how to get my content over to it.

    You will need to export your content from the old address and import it to the new one.

    The address change tool only works to change to an address that does not exist yet. If the new address has already been created you need to move everything manually.

    And please don’t delete the new address. Doing that will remove it from our system and you won’t be able to use it at all again. Exporting and importing your content is the only way now.

    After you’ve moved your content, let me know and I can move your followers and stats over as well if you want.

    Hi Kokkieh, I was able to do the export/import successfully. I’m not too worried about the stats because it was a very new site, but I did have one precious follower.When you change your site address, how do you notify followers? (Assuming i had multiple?)

    The best way is to publish a post on the old site to let them know, but I see you’ve already deleted the old site, so that’s not possible any more.

    But I am still able to move the followers (there are two) to the new site for you. I just need you to confirm that you want me to do it. Once I move them they’ll receive updates from the new site in their Reader, just like they did on the old site.
