Change Blog name

  I have a blog. I don’t use it much I’d like it to be more general and change the name. Can I do that?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Depends on the blog. We need the URL starting with http in order to tell.

  OK, so I changed the name. But it stillcoming up as the old name. What is my blog name now? I have no idea….I want the old name to disappear completely.

  http:/freeheelingfool.wordpress.com I changed the name (or at least tried to) to heartofthemountain.wordpress.com This is the name of my little organization. When i went back into the system, it stillcomes up with the old name.

  Go to Dashboard/Settings/General to change your Site Title and Tagline, and save the changes.

  The dashboard, etc, will always show the old name but you’re the only one that sees it. Normal readers will see the new one.

  Thank you for putting in this information about the dashboard not changing the old name. I have been trying to figure this out, but all of the help posts seem to confuse ‘Title’ with ‘Name’ as listed in the ‘My blogs’ section. Is there no way to change the old name in the dashboard? I have very similar original names and will find it confusing if I cannot have it display a different name. I have gone through the Dashboard/Settings/General and changed the site title and tagline, so all of that is correct.

  There is no way to change the URLs that are being mapped from the .wordpress.com blog to your domain. If you are foolsih enough to attempt to change them you will end up with broekn links and defeat what domain mapping is intended to do. As raincoaster says only you can see them. The blog title and optional tagline can be chnaged at any time where raincoster stated > Settings > General There’s a brief delay before changing the blog title appears in My Blogs.

  Thank you for responding timethief. Based on your mentioning of a brief delay, I checked 24 hours later and found that what is listed in the ‘My Blogs’ section has now changed to match the ‘Site Title’ listed under Settings>General.
