  Can I change the name of my blog and still keep the same followers?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I want to change the name of my blog to include my name, but want to know if followers can stay connected with the new name and if the content will follow me with the new name. Any assistance would be appreciated!

  No, you don’t lose your subscribers on changing you blog name following the instructions in the Changing a Blog Address support document.

  Note you lose ALL search engine ranking and you can NEVER go back to the old address.

  Actually, I believe unless they purchase Site Redirect, they DO lose followers. That Support doc does not address the issue.

  Okay, so if I buy the domain (i.e. serenity centric.com @ $18 per year) or some other name, will that include the site redirect fee ($13 per year) and would I then choose the primary and then the secondary name would redirect automatically? (And thank your for your help!!)

  First, chaitanyamsv provided incorrect information.

  Second, you do lose followers and all the content on your .wordpress.com site. I know because it just happened to me as I just upgraded my site from .wordpress.com to .com.

  Now i’m trying to figure out how to even find and create themes etc.

  It’s very bad of wordpress to not have a phone number where users can speak to a representative for assistance with these issues. One would also think they’d have more detailed and helpful information seeing as this is a popular topic (I’ve see a few questions about this with no answers).

  hopefully you are using free blogging platform and yes you can change the name. And you can use redirect for getting your subscribed visitors.

  Now you said you upgraded your self so congrats.

  @hackingafrica – did you ask Staff to move your subscribers for you, as RootJosh (Staff) mentioned in the other thread and as it says in this Support doc? http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/#wordpress-com-site-to wordpress-com-site

  When you purchase a Custom Domain upgrade, if you map it to your WordPress.com website, you are still hosted on WordPress.com
