change blog URL (to a URL I already have)

  This is a bit tricky to explain but here goes:

  i have a current blog at nameA.wordpress.com – and some time ago I set up a brand new blog at a URL that I liked better: nameB.wordpress.com.

  I went into the WP Admin panel for blogs I own because I wanted to move my current blog to nameB.wordpress.com (not via import/export, i’d like to keep my tiny amount of followers) so the first thing I did was change the URL for the nameB blog to free it up. I did not check the box as it said I wouldn’t have access to the URL again.

  Unfortunately this just added another blog to my account, keeping nameB.blogspot.com as-is.

  tl;dr
  I would like to move my current blog (including followers, customized theme, etc. – not via import) from nameA.wordpress.com to nameB.wordpress.com. I have registered nameB in my account already so cannot do this via WP Admin site management. Is there another option?

  No luck so far. I even upgraded my account so I could talk to a happiness engineer :)

  Haven’t heard back so I just did an export/import and am now manually migrating content, updating the template etc.

  Left a message on nameA with the new address so hopefully that works.

  I hope you’re able to find a better solution. Good luck!
