Change blog's background color

  • Unknown's avatar

My theme has a lot of open white space and the pure white is really glare-y. I’d like to soften it from #ffffff to #f8f8f8 throughout but even with CSS customization available, I’ve been unable to figure out the presumably simple line of code that will make this change for all backgrounds throughout the blog. Can someone help, please?

    My blog is piedtype.com

    Thanks in advance.

  • In order to use CSS for that type of customization the premium plan would be required. I’d suggest finding a theme that has a desirable amount of blank space instead of paying to upgrade just for that reason.

Themes that offer a full width page template will reduce that spacing for you.

It’s a premium theme and although I’ve tried many others, I always come back to this one. CSS customization options are fully enabled. I just don’t know the line of code that will render the entire background in #F8F8F8. I often use all that space, depending on what I’m writing about, and I do have a full-width option that I use — again, depending on the subject.

Thanks, Liz. I think I figured it out. It wasn’t a matter of changing a line of CSS code. It was a chance to choose my own color in the Customizer. I’d been overlooking that simple solution for years!
