change body width
-
Within the last day or two, the body of this site has shifted to the right and has reduced its width by about 40%. I am using the Truly Minimal theme. I’ve made no CSS changes in the past couple of months. Now all pages are totally wierd + line spacing in some titles has randomly changed. Can you help me understand what happened and how I can fix this, please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
I can’t tell what specifically happened to cause this now, but I can help with the CSS to fix it.
Your site is currently using
.sidebar-left .site-content { margin: 0 0 0 34%; }The correct CSS for your site would be
.sidebar-left .site-content { margin: 0 0 0 0; }First, take a look in your custom CSS and see if you have the first bit of code. If you do, replace the 34% with 0. If you do not have any CSS code containing site-content, then paste the entire second snippet into your CSS editor.
Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello, I also use Truly Minimal and have the same problem, which seemed to start about the same time as winekitz described above.
I don’t use custom CSS so I don’t know how to access the CCS dialog box to implement the solution described above. Could you please help me fix me blog site? The address is: https://ianluntecology.com/
Thank you for your help, Ian

Hi Ian
If you don’t have the premium or business level account, you won’t be able to edit the CSS.
It looks like this is a problem with this theme in general, so I’m going to tag the staff to take a look. Please subscribe to this post so that you’ll get a notification when they response.

ianluntecology – Currently your settings have the side bar situated on the left of the screen. With this theme you can either situate that side bar on the left or right, or remove it entirely with a full page template.
The full page template will completely eliminate the side bar.
Feel free to play around with those options at My Sites > Customize > Site Identity
You can also try out the CSS that melindahelt provided by going to My Sites > Customize > CSS > Try Now button. This is a free trial option so you can paste that CSS in there and see if that helps.
I will continue to look in to the theme behavior. Could you let me know exactly what has changed?
-
Thank you Liz, I shall try the CSS change you suggest later today.
Re ‘could you let me know exactly what has changed?’, the problem seems exactly the same as that described by winekitz above. Some time in the past week or so, the theme layout has changed so that the left hand sidebar now takes up 50% of the screen width and squashes the main content frame into the right hand half of the screen. I have not made any changes to the layout or content of my blog during this period.
Thank you for your help, I shall let you know if the CSS change works. Yours, Ian

Hello again Liz, I tried the CSS change suggested above but it did not fix (or change) the problem. As I haven’t paid for the custom upgrade, the CSS changes did not save when I left the CSS options. Thank you, Ian
-
Thank you for those details, Ian. I’m going to need a little more time to look at this for you and I’ll post an update later on today.
-
Thanks Liz, the site looks horrible at the moment so I really appreciate your help in fixing it, Ian
-
Hi Ian – I am still working on this and talking to our theme specialists. I’ll get an update to you asap.
-
Good morning Ian –
Please have a look at the site now. We have made the necessary adjustments on our side of things. No CSS is needed for your site to display as intended. Let me know if I can help you out with anything else and I appreciate your patience as we worked on this. Best wishes :)

It looks like the change to correct Ian’s problem included a change to the Truly Minimal theme because now my website winekitziris.ca has gone completely wonky again. Help please.

Thank you for updating us winekitz. I’m having a look at your site now and will post an update here for you.

Possibly it’s now as simple as removing the coding that Melissa gave me last week that resolved the initial problem I was having?
-
Yes, that is exactly what I have done. Can you take a look and make sure everything is ok to you?
-
OK. I did exactly that. I removed the coding that Melissa gave me on January 17 and all went back to where it was before the problem started on January 16. Question for you: was the initial problem caused by a change to the theme? If so, how can we monitor against changes like that in future? If not, why would the change made for Ian affect my site? I also use the Truly Minimal theme on 3 other sites I manage. This problem did not affect those sites at any time. If I sound confused, it’s because I am. I appreciate the help you all offer. Thank you.
-
Ha! we obviously did it at exactly the same time. So back to my question. How/why did this happen in the first place? Is this a theme issue, is this a site issue?
