change color of quotation marks in block quote
-
Hi, I have the Comet theme and premium package. There are quotation marks that show up at the beginning of any block/pull quote — which is great, except they’re so faint you can hardly see them.
Is there a way to change the color through CSS?
Thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, Comet uses an image for the quote marks: https://s1.wp.com/wp-content/themes/pub/comet/images/quote.png . You can use that image as a guide and either create a new png image with a transparent background, or you can take the above image and edit it in an image editing program and change the color of the quote marks. You would then upload that image to your media library and add the following CSS and replace URL_OF_IMAGE between the quote marks with the URL of your new image.
blockquote { background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) url("URL_OF_IMAGE") no-repeat scroll left top; } -
I assume Adobe Fireworks would allow me to effectively edit this image? I subscribe to the Creative Cloud software, but haven’t gotten to Fireworks yet. This could be a good starting for me :)

I haven’t used FW in a while, but I’m sure it allows you to “change” colors on things. I know you can do it in PS, but haven’t done it in quite a while.

You are welcome. I’d do a search in the help section in FW and see what comes up.
Sometimes muddling through is all we can hope for. ;P

Thank you! I’m no fool — I used the “color picker” (or whatever they call it) in Photoshop. A little muddling, but that’s how we learn :)

Yup, that is how I learned PS, Illustrator and FW. Play with stuff till I get it done. That and a good bit of Googling and such. :)
