  how do I change the colour of the background for a full page, not just a block?

  Hi there!

  You can change the background color of the entire page using the Site Editor. However, the Styles feature of the Site Editor requires the WordPress.com Premium plan or higher.

  You can try out the Styles on Site Editor, but to save the changes, you will need to upgrade to the Premium plan.
