Change Column Width (Widget column smaller) in Reddle CSS

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am very new to CSS and need some help updating the look of my blog. I want the widget to be about 25% of the width of the page and the main content to be 75%. I’ve looked at the forums to see about changing the CSS and have tried on my own, but I am not doing very well. If someone can walk me through exactly how to do this, I would be so grateful!!
    My blog is: http://hereswhatworksblog.com/

    Thanks so much!!

    OK – I actually figured this one out due to some great threads.

    Now I’m looking to update a few more things:

    1) make my blog title bigger Here’s What Works
    2) the description below it to be a few lines, rather than one long one and one really short one.
    3) in the right column, I love the size of the headers, but can’t figure out how to make the font below it a little bigger.

    If you can give me the exact CSS things to paste in, I can do that!

    Thank you so much!

    I see you adjusted the site title font size with this CSS:

    #site-title {
    	font-size: 40px !important;
    }

    Nice work!

    I don’t see a description below the site title. Did you take it out?

    I actually decided to move the description over to a widget…it’s the top right widget. I’d love to make the text a little bigger. Any CSS suggestions??

    For this one, try adding paragraph HTML tags to the content of the text widget. That way, the text there will match the same text size as the other paragraphs in the sidebar and posts.

    Go to Appearance > Widgets, open the text widget, and add <p> and </p> tags like this:

    <p>I'm a working mom who loves her stuff (clothes, tv, food, books, products) and figuring out the best way to get it.</p>

    Add this to your custom CSS:

    #text-2 {
    	font-size:16px;
    }

    I think 16px is just right, but you can change it to whatever size you want.

    Any other suggestions for me??

    I love the images in your cooking posts, so I’d say keep adding cool images like those.
