Change default spacing between lines and paragraphs

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I´m having this problem: when I paste a word file, the space between lines is excessive on the post and the space between paragraphs dissappears. How can I customize the spacing setting for each post? Is there any option like in Word to easily do so? Thanks!!!

    Hi there!

When copying from a Microsoft Word file to your WordPress.com editor, not all formatting will be reproduced. That’s why you’re having spacing issues. I’d suggest that you use the “Paste as Text” button.

Your editor will then be in “plain text mode” so you can paste in your text from Microsoft Word.

When you use Plain Text mode to insert text, note that all your formatting (such as bold, italic, etc.) will be removed, so any styles will need to be added in afterward.

    Here’s more information on that:

    Microsoft Word

Whether or not you are copying and pasting go to > Dashboard > Settings > Writing and enable this setting:
    Formatting
__ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
    “save changes”

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It’s in the Visual editor Row 2 first position “style”. See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

    Also note raincoaster’s editing tip:

When you fix the spacing, you have to start at the top and work down. If you start at the bottom and work up, it always double spaces at least one line.
