change default to open links in a new window

  • Unknown's avatar

How can I set my site so the default is always to open a new browser window for all links when http links are clicked by the user instead of the default that opens these links in the current window? I can’t think of a situation where I would want a page to open in the current window (effectively closing my page), thus want to switch the default. It’s a pain to have to change this for every single post.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Currently, it is not possible to set new links to open in another window by default. The only option is to check “Open in a new window/tab” when you add the link as shown here:

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

I think this would be a good thing for WordPress to change, to allow as a default that it opens in a new window. I use a lot of links and this is a pain to change for every single post.

    Hi!

I can definitely see the value in an option like that. If you would like, you can add it to our Ideas forum here:

We take the suggestions there into consideration for future releases and updates.
