Change Domain Connection from *.com to *.org

    Hello,

I have an existing domain connection for my *.com site, but I want to change it to *.org. Is it possible to do this with my existing subscription and rate? I own both domains using an external DNS provider.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there @secretarymckinneyrunningcluborg, it sounds like you want to add the .org version of your domain, and make that primary. Does that sound right?

Your site is using a legacy domain connection. We haven’t offered that for several years now, and I’m not positive whether that will allow you to change the primary domain again. But you could try adding another mapping upgrade to test. If it didn’t work as hoped, the .org address would still redirect to your current .com primary domain.

If you can manage it, though, I would recommend the Personal Plan instead. That would cover the cost of both domain connections, and it would also get rid of ads for you, let the site accept payments/donations, and add number of other features that may be useful to you. If you’re interested, you can get that here, or we’d be happy to answer any further questions.

Thanks for the info, I’ve gone ahead and made this change, and see the option to change primary once it gets verified. Thanks!
