Change domain mapping

  Hi there I’d like to remove the current domain mapping on my website and replace it with a new address. Thanks

  Hi smartcasualmedia –

  To map a new address for your blog, select “Domains” in your site’s dashboard. (You will need to be logged in as your admin for the site.)

  Option 1:
  Buy the domain that you want to use.
  1) Select “Add domain.”
  2) Search your desired address and see recommended/ available addresses and their cost. Or, if you already own the address you want, there’s a link to “Map it” for a $13 hosting cost. (Most other domains seem to be $22/ year.)
  3) Purchase and add the domain.
  4) Change the new domain to the primary domain. Select “Change Primary Domain” in the “Domains” configure setting page. Now, both domains will show with the new address.

  Option 2:
  Change the site address to another —.wordpress.com.
  1) Select the domain name.
  2) Select “Edit Site Address.” This will open a new tab in “My Blogs”.
  3) Hover your mouse below the address that shows up to select “Change Blog Address.”
  4) Type in your desired domain (twice) – and select whether you want to make a new user to match the new blog name, and whether you want to permanently disable the old address. Only do that if you don’t want to use it again!

  Thanks for your feedback Julie.
  I would like to remove mapping from an old domain that I purchased externally and then added to the account.
  Even if I revert to blog.wordpress.com as the primary domain, as I’ve now done, the other domain that I purchased is still mapped to the site.
