Change Domain Name

    Hi There,

    I have buy new domain outside wordpress and I wanna use it to replace existing domain name (in wordpress).

    I would like to keep every posts from my old sites (in wordpress), is that possible?

    and I would like to have email with new domain name, I haven’t buy it yet. is it better I buy hosting from wordpress or buy hosting from the place where I buy new domain name?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    If you haven’t bought a new domain already then I suggest you buy it from WordPress.com so that you will just have to pay the cost of the domain.

    We can certainly buy the domain from anyone and map it to WordPress.com blog. However you have two costs: [1] the money you pay to the registrar to buy domain. [2] the money you pay to WordPress.com to map the domain to your blog. So it is better you buy your domain from WordPress.com so you just pay once per year.

    Your post and all content will be intact after your map your domain. You will just get a new domain like xyz.com or whatever instead of xyz.wordpress.com.

    Once you buy the domain, you can configure email by following the instructions in this support document: https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/

    I already buy the domain outside wordpress (domain only).
    I have read about domain mapping, and yes I should pay double (domain mapping fee for wordpress and domain fee for registrar).

    For next step after domain mapping, what should I do to change from previous domain name (godblesstravellers) to new domain without deleting any posts inside previous domain name?

    and now, I’m not buy any hosting yet and didn’t have email with new domain yet.
    with my case above, which better, buy hosting from wordpress or buy hosting from the place where I buy new domain name?

    A new domain name has to purchased separately. Domain names cannot be renamed or changed.

    Hosting space purchased from elsewhere cannot be used on WordPress.com. 3 GB of hosting space is free with every WordPress.com account and additional space can be purchased.

    If you are wanting to change your domain name, my suggestion would be to buy WordPress.com Premium which costs $99 USD per year. Among other goodies, a new domain is included in this plan.
