  Hi there! I want to change my domain name before I get started here. Can I cancel this account and start over?

  Hey there!

  If you want to cancel the account completely and start over, that’s a bigger question, but if you’re happy with everything else and just want to change your domain name without nuking the rest of it, that’s absolutely do-able.

  This page has more detailed instructions, but really all you need to do is this quick checklist:

  1. Go to your Domains page.
  2. Click “Edit Site Address”
  3. Hover over your address and then click “Change Blog Address” when it pops up underneath your mouse.
  4. Fill out the form with the new address you want, and answer a couple quick questions about what you want to do with your username and the old address.

  Now, it says it both in the help article I linked and on the form itself, but it’s important enough to bear repeating: once you change your domain name (and/or username), you can never change it back. You can change it again to something else if you want, but once a name has been done once, it’s used up forever – if you change it, there’s no backsies.

  Other than that, though, you’re good to go! Reinvent yourself!
