Hi, you can either create a new site using a free *.wordpress.com address;
sign in to your WordPress.com account and go to:
https://wordpress.com/start/
or you can upgrade your plan and select your own domain name for your existing site (which will no longer have *.wordpress.com in the URL address)

Hi there,
If you specified a custom domain when creating your site a free address is generated automatically based on the domain you specify. It looks like you did not complete the upgrade and domain registration process, however, which is why you only have the free address.
You can change the free address by following the instructions here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Or you can upgrade to one of our paid plans if you want to use a custom domain instead:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
Please don’t advise users to create a completely new site if all they want to do is change the address.

I have a paid premium plan but wish to change my domain name as I am rebranding my blog. I don’t want to create a new domain, just change the name and ensure all content etc. remain the same. How do I do this ?

I’d like to change my domain name as well. I added my current domain to my paid account, but I’d like to get a new one since I am already paying for the current one, I’d like to have a third. Please instruct me in doing so. I’m thinking smallfryscooking.org would work.
THANKS!

@lotusmoons and @thinkndrinkhotchocolate, please don’t post into old threads created by other users.
You can use the link below to create your own thread:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1
Or if you have a paid plan already you can contact us via live chat or email here:

Note that custom domains cannot be edited. A custom domain is registered for a year at a time, and the only way to change a custom domain name is to register and pay for a new one. Then you can either keep the old one until it expires or cancel it. But you cannot register a second domain for free if you’ve already used the free domain in your plan.
As the original poster on this thread hasn’t replied in two weeks, I’m closing this thread to new replies.
