Change domain name

Hello, I want to change my domain name but not lose the site and content. Can I do that by choosing “Yes, change jayskiplanet.wordpress.com to match my new username and discard the old address” in account settings?

Yes, this process will transfer all your contents to a new address and the old on will be discarded. You can read more about it here:

on the same subject but a different question:
I have a domain registered through another platform. I want to change my domain name and register it through WordPress instead so I have everything in the same place. I pay for the “personal” plan and it says that one domain is included in the price. If I give up the one I already own (through another platform) and get a new one (with a new name) through WordPress, is it free or do I have to pay for it?

Hi Olga, have you thought about transferring the domain in? That way you don’t have to give it up. And the transfer is included in your plan fee.
Or you would be welcome to register a second domain if you want to change things up. And you can map your old domain as well (for $13 extra as it would count as a second domain at that point.)

Thank you for your idea and the information! I did not know that I can now transfer my domain.
But I insist with my first question because in the near future I really want to change the name of my domain.
