change domain name

  Hello

  I would like to change my domain name. My blog is called iambsk.wordpress.com and I would like to change it by modetrotteuse.com. Is the traffic to my website will still be the same, I mean, will the traffic be oriented to iambsk or modetrotteuse ?

  If you change the domain name, you are in effect cancelling a name in exchange for the other. You would have to let your followers or subscribers know that that you are going to be changing the domain name, when you are changing it, and then do so. It would be nice of you to allow some time between telling your followers and actually changing the name.

  To change the name; my experience has led me to use the Reader more than the actual dash board so I will use that as the starting point, you will need to do:

  1. Click the My Blogs tab in the upper blue bar
  2. Hover over the blog that you want to change the address (domain name) of
  3. Click the link that appears saying ‘Change Address’
  4. Read carefully and follow the instructions on the subsequent page.

  I do apologise, it appears that I read the question wrong. After rereading it, it appears that what you want is to purchase a Custom Domain Name. In which case you would also need to purchase a Site Redirect from the WordPress Store which would redirect traffic from your old blog to the new blog.
