Change Domain names?

  • Unknown's avatar

I need to change the current and paid for Domain mapping from inarukundo.com to radiantmix.com. on word press.com itself.
Unforchuly because you have potential additional fees as a constant threat. I do not dare do anything with out procice instructions, or direct assistance from a wordpress technician.

    My plan was to:
    1. delete the mapping to inarukundo,
    2. chance the server name (usually the www. part of a url) to radiantmix making the final url radiantmix.wordpress.com. ( I think I have figure out how to do that.
    3. Make a new mapping from radiantmix.com
4 and or course set the nameserver with the registry.

But it looks like if I delete inarukundo mapping, I will have to re-pay for the radiantmix. That would not be fair! Please advice’s?

  • Hi there, I’d be glad to help with this.

You currently have the domain inarukundo.com mapped to inarukundo.wordpress.com as part of your bundle.

Are you looking to map radiantmix.com (currently pointing to ipower.com) to the same WordPress.com site, instead of inarukundo.com? (I understand you’ll also be changing the WordPress.com address at your end as well.)

If so, that’s no problem – I can make the swap for you at this end, at no extra cost.

Just let me know if that’s what you’d like to do. Thanks!

    Hi Kathrynwp,

Yes, we are essentially swapping our wordpress site from inarukundo to radiantmix all to gether. I will go to Ipower and set the name servers for radiantmix.com to wordpress.com. and if you will do the rest, that would work out fine. Let me know when the processes is complete.

    Thank you.

  • Hi there, I just noticed that inarukundo.com is actually registered with us, as well as being mapped. Could you clarify whether you want to keep this domain registered or cancel it completely?

Canceling a domain means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.

You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

After 60 days from the date of purchase or registrant contact information change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar by following this guide:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of inarukundo.com name, please reply to confirm.

Option 1) If you want to cancel inarukundo.com, I can add the mapping for radiantmix.com instead, with an expiry date of February 19, 2014, to match your Premium bundle.

Option 2) If you want to keep inarukundo.com, you can simply purchase a new domain mapping upgrade for radiantmix.com separately. The cost is $13/year.

Just let me know how you’d like to proceed.

    Dear Kathrynwp,

Thanks for keeping on top of this issue.

I think you may have over looked the fact that on 5-27-13 the Domain name of Inarukundo.com was requested for transfer and was then transfected from WordPress.com to the Registry and control of Ipower.com.

If you look Inarukundo.com up on the Who is domain data base you will get:
    Domain Name: INARUKUNDO.COM
    Registrar: FastDomain Inc.
    Provider Name….: IPOWER Inc.
    Provider Whois…: whois.fastdomain.com
    Provider Homepage: http://www.ipower.com/

So please let me know what the next step is?

    Hi there,

I’m going to help you out since Kathryn’s not available today, but I’d like to confirm I understand what you want to do.

You currently have inarukundo.wordpress.com with mapping to inarukundo.com. Do you wish to rename that site to radiantmix.wordpress.com, add mapping to radiantmix.com, and have the Premium bundle associated with that blog?

If that’s the case, please follow the steps here to rename your blog:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

This will allow you to decide how you want to deal with your original username and blog address.

Once you have gone through those steps, let me know and I can change the domain mapping for you and make sure the rest of your Premium bundle is associated with the correct account.

    Dear Jackiedana,

    Thanks for stepping up.

So I flowed the instructions and it seemed to do it.
I log in with the new user name and
Server name has been chanced to radiantmix.
But I did an error while doing it that said “Sorry, that site already exists!”, and when after loging on when I start going to the Dash board, it stall says inarukundo on the menu item. So maybe there is still something not quite right.

Any way, Please rename our site to radiantmix.wordpress.com and Re map it to the primary domain of radiantmix.com. Make shore the inarukundo map is removed. and if possible please remove any reference to inarukundo except of the email address.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Hi there,

You see inarukundo because you have not renamed the blog itself, which is separate from the URL/web address for the site:
    https://radiantmix.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

I have updated our records to show the new domain mapping for radiantmix.com and removed the domain inarukundo.com from this site.

Your site at radiantmix.com may appear to be offline for as long as 72 hours as the domain records propagate across the internet. This is normal, so don’t worry. You can access your site in the meantime at the link above.
