Change domain names registrar

Need to change domain registration to another name. I took out the domain with WP and need to have ownership changed to the non-profit group for which I obtained it. I’m their webmaster, too. Looked all over and no info on how to do this in simplest way. Thx.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I opened and have continued our account with WP, but the domain name is registered in my personal name, and it should be registered as the property of the group for which I’m managing their website with you.
It’s a non-profit organization. How can I rectify this issue in the simplest and most expeditious way?

    Hello there!

Need to change domain registration to another name. I took out the domain with WP and need to have ownership changed to the non-profit group for which I obtained it.

When you purchase a domain name, you’re buying and registering a precise URL to use with your site. This isn’t editable. If you wanted to replace firstaerosquadron.com with another domain name, you’d have to register a new one.

I opened and have continued our account with WP, but the domain name is registered in my personal name, and it should be registered as the property of the group for which I’m managing their website with you.

You can either give the entire site ownership to a new user:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-wordpress-com-user-or-account

If you’d like to solely move domain management to a new administrator, you can do so like this:

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

    Hi ‘ThatRobyn.’
Appreciate the quick response, but the two basic choices you provided seem to make the procedure too complicated.

All I need to do it change the ownership of the WP site and the domain name to the First Aero Squadron Foundation (FASF) , since I took everything out for them in the first place, but I was in a rush and simply needed to get the site set up quickly. Now that all’s well, and we’re happy with WP (very!), just need to change the ownership name from me to the FASF. I will continue to do the site’s management, so no changes there, just in the actual ownership name.

The two options you provided look sort of dangerous (irreversible if mistake is made) and, as I said, aslo too complicated.

    Thanks again!

    Ric,

Appreciate the quick response, but the two basic choices you provided seem to make the procedure too complicated.

All I need to do it change the ownership of the WP site and the domain name to the First Aero Squadron Foundation (FASF)

If you want to truly move ownership of the site to another party, you should transfer it outright. It’s truly not that time consuming, but does require that the other party become WordPress.com users in order to own the site.

If you only want FASF to become the administrative contact for the domain, you can still follow the instructions here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-contact-information

There is no other way to move the site to a new owner as your user account is directly tied to the ownership of the blog. To extract yourself from this responsibility, another WordPress.com account holder must have their unique account information tied to the site.

If you have any struggle during the process, please do let me know. I’m happy to help you along the way. Nothing is irreversible :)

    Thank you!
