change domain within 60 days

  • Unknown's avatar

I upgraded my WordPress.com account ($100) upgrade, but I’d like top switch to a WordPress.org hosted solution. My upgrade was less than 30 days ago and my domain name is less than 60 days old. How do I cancel my WordPress.com upgrade without losing my domain name? And then how do I transfer my domain name to the hosted company within the 60 day period?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,

If you’d like, I can cancel our WordPress.com premium package and since it is within 30 days since the purchase I will be able to issue you a prorated refund (minus the cost of the domain). Just let me know that this is what you’d like me to do and I’ll take care of it.

In regards to transferring your domain, I’m afraid that the actual management of the domain cannot be transferred until the 60 days are up. This is a registrar lock and not something which we can undo.

What you can do however is change your nameservers using the instructions right here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/ to point your domain towards a different set of hosting. Once the 60 days are up in about a month and a half, there will be no problem with you transferring the domain.

Thanks for your response. I have changed my nameservers.

Yes, can you please cancel my WordPress.com upgrade and issue a refund minus the domain cost. Thanks.

Also, can you please migrate my subscribers from WordPress.com to my WordPress.org site. What info do you need from me to do that?

    Thanks.
