Change Email Address

  I can’t seem to change my WordPress.com email address. It doesn’t show any specific error, other than that ‘There was a problem saving your changes’.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hello,
  The problem saving your changes error is often caused by trying to use an email address which is already registered with WordPress.com. If that’s the case, you need to choose a different email account to use.

  If you’re sure the email is not being used with a WordPress.com account, post the email address here (forum software will block it so only staff can read it) and add “modlook” to the tags for this thread. That will alert a staff member that you need assistance with this issue.

  I also need to change the email address on my wordpress.com account. The email address I want to use is (email visible only to moderators and staff) on http://www.randomannacdotes.wordpress.com

  Hi anna5759, as micawbr mentioned above you won’t be able to save a new email address is if it already registered with WordPress.com (linked to a different WordPress.com account). If your email address is already used with another account, you can reset that account password by entering your email address here:

  https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  Thanks, and I already understood that from the general “help” instructions. However, I have several WP blogs (only one account) and the email address associated with them is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I am phasing out that email address and can’t figure out where/how my (email visible only to moderators and staff) address is currently attached anywhere to my WP account. I really need the gmail address account attached to this to WP.

  Hi there,

  If your gmail address is linked to a different WordPress.com account (not your anna5759 account) you can reset the password for that account here:

  https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  To use that email address with your anna5759 account, you’ll need to change the account settings for that other account (to free up your gmail address) before you can use it with this account. We also have more details about that on our Update Email Address support page.

  Yes, but what I’m saying is I have no idea what WP account that could be. Surely if WP knows which account it is they can let me know so I can change the password on it, can’t they. This is frustrating.

  Staff can’t give out details about other WordPress.com accounts, so I can’t tell you anything about an account linked to that email address. However, if you can’t remember the username, you can put your email address in that password reset form to reset the password. (You can also log in using your email address and password if you can’t remember the username.)
