change email address

I have changed my email address on account settings and it says that there is an email a pending change of your email to ….. Please check your inbox for a confirmation link. When I go to the email it says ‘…if you made this request, you can safely ignore and delete this email….’ – there is no link to verify the email change. When I go back to the accounts settings it is my old email address.
If I can’t change my email address very shortly I may have to leave WordPress as the only email account will be defunct and from what I have read elsewhere on the site the email address is the only way that WordPress will deal with me.
Can anyone help?

The message you noted goes to the old email address on your account. Check the new email address for the verification link.
