Change email address in wordpress

I accidentally posted the wrong thing. The site has changed ownership and I need to change the password but I believe it probably needs to be confirmed with the old owner. He doesn’t seem to know how to confirm the email change?

If the site is still registered with the old owner’s email address, he will need to update the email in Account Settings to your email address. To do this, he simply needs to go to Account Settings and change the email in the Email Address field. Once that is done, a confirmation email will be sent to the new email address. Once the confirmation link in that email is clicked, the email address change will be finalized.

Are you trying to change the ownership of the site, or the entire WordPress.com account?
To change who owns the account, the current owner will need to change the email address to that of the new owner, as @jennysihua explained above, and then the new owner will be able to reset the password on the account.
If you just want to change who owns the site, you can follow these instructions to transfer ownership of the site to another account:
